Susie Ridgeway of Wooster City Schools and Sue Subel of Kenston City Schools will serve as this year’s Advocacy Co-chairs. Advocacy for school librarians in the state of Ohio is a BIG job. Among the goals of this year’s Advocacy Committee are to 1) develop and foster partnerships with state associations, to present and/or exhibit at their conferences; 2) to prepare white papers on such key issues as school librarians and the Third Grade Guarantee, school librarians and college and career readiness, school librarians and blended learning; and 3) to develop video presentations to accompany the white papers so members of the learning community can see how school librarians impact these initiatives in their schools, in their district and in the state. Look for announcements on the OELMA listserv as to ways in which YOU can help! We must all be advocates for school libraries and a SMARTER Ohio!
