OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award |
The OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award recognizes an Ohio school library media specialist who pursues active leadership roles in their school district, in OELMA, and/or in national professional organizations (e.g. AASL, ALA). This Award honors OELMA members who demonstrate an ongoing commitment to leadership in the school library profession. Multiple recipients may receive the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award. The recipients receive a commemorative plaque at the OELMA annual conference. Each recipient’s name will be announced through the OELMA listserv, website and social media. |
The OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award recipient will be selected from applicants and nominees who meet the following criteria:
OELMA member for the previous three years
Licensed Ohio school library media specialist
Successfully completed at least one Association leadership role
Currently serving in a leadership role in their school district, on an OELMA committee, and/or in a national professional organization (e.g. AASL, ALA)
Meets the minimum requirements on the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award Checklist
Nominator:
Complete and upload the OELMA Awards Nominator Form Part A which requires a 250-word rationale for the nomination that speaks to the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award Checklist.
Contact the nominee and inform them to complete and upload the OELMA Awards Nominee Form Part B by the deadline.
Nominee:
Complete and upload the OELMA Awards Nominee Form Part B which requires a 500-word statement that speaks to the criteria outlined in the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award Checklist.
Upload a photograph of the nominee (jpg or gif format).
Additional documents such as a resume, video, and/or letter(s) of recommendation from colleague(s) and/or supervisors that explain how the nominee meets the criteria outlined in the OELMA Leadership-in-Action Award Checklist are encouraged.
If you are self-nominating, complete and upload the OELMA Awards Nominee Form Part B and upload a photograph of the nominee (jpg or gif format). Additional documents described above are encouraged.
Late materials will not be accepted. All application materials must be submitted to OELMA using the online application form by 11:59 p.m. on Monday, April 1, 2024. You will be able to upload supporting materials to the online form.
