Ohio School Librarian of the Month

OELMA and Rosen Publishing want to spotlight YOU!

What are your students, your staff, and YOU doing each month in your School Library Media Center?

Nominate yourself or another licensed school library media specialist from across Ohio. Tell us about a powerful lesson, project, event or collaboration that empowers student learning and showcases what is happening in school libraries/media centers across our state. The Rosen Publishing Ohio School Librarian of the Month spotlights the importance of both the school library community and librarian and the pivotal role each plays in transforming students’ learning K-12.

The Rosen Publishing Ohio School Librarian of the Month will be awarded monthly from September to May. The recipient will be featured on the OELMA website, social media, listservs, and more. From the outstanding lessons, projects, events or collaborations, OELMA will create an idea bank of best practices.

Established in 1950, the Rosen Publishing Group offers engaging print and digital books on a wide range of topics that are aligned with curriculum. Rosen is also known for databases and interactive e-books. This award includes a set of Rosen Publishing print titles for the recipient’s school, a digital badge, and a letter of recognition. The school building administrator listed on the nomination form will receive a copy of the letter of recognition and a press release. Click here to nominate someone today!

Guidelines:

• OELMA members may nominate their own program or may nominate another OELMA member. Members of the OELMA Awards/Scholarship Committee, an elected officer of OELMA, or a liaison to OELMA are not eligible.

• The nominee must have a current Ohio teaching license in the area of library/media.

• Nominations may be made between September and May. No awards will be given in June, July, or August. Nominations must be received by the 15th of each month.

• Only one set of Rosen books per school will be awarded each school year.

• A library media specialist may be featured multiple times, winning multiple book collections, but only one award will be given per school. For example, an LMS teaching in three buildings can submit three different forms within one school year as long as each submission represents work from a different building.

If multiple submissions are made within one month, the OELMA Awards/Scholarship Committee will vote on the recipient considering best practices, standards, advocacy, and outreach. Unselected nominations will be placed in a nomination pool and will be included in the committee’s review for each month.
